3 Ways to Use Honey for Healthy Skin and Nails

26/07/2020 //  by Dima Al Mahsiri//  Leave a Comment

It is no secret that raw honey is considered a superfood, but did you know that the sweet substance is also a superb anti-aging and beauty ingredient?

Raw and non-processed honey naturally contains antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties along with a bunch of amino acids and vitamins. It is an excellent wound healer, offers wonderful moisture for the complexion, and promotes the building of fresh collagen, according to skincare experts.

Don’t rely on the teddy bear plastic bottles of honey you find at the supermarket. You want to choose a natural, raw, and unfiltered honey for gorgeous skin and nails.

Check out our beauty tips below.

Nature’s Ageless Facial

If you’re longing for a flawless complexion that is clear, smooth, and radiant, then consider creating your own at-home raw honey facials. These beauty recipes are simple to whip up, and your skin will absorb all the wonderful benefits.

For example, a raw honey mask feels good on and performs its magic within minutes.

Apply some raw honey on to your face and neck, and keep it on for up to 20 minutes. Then, massage it off thoroughly with water.

It is the sugars in the honey that behave as humectants and emollients to increase the water content in your skin and improve any dryness.

If you’re interested in a scrubbing type of facial that gets rid of dead dry skin cells, revs the circulation, and helps to balance your skin tone, then a raw honey exfoliating facial is another option.

Women’sHealth.com recommends this easy recipe.

Take a spoonful of honey, and rub it between your fingers to warm it up. Then, apply it to your face, and massage it in circular motions. Leave the facial on for a few minutes before massaging it off with a wet towel.

Mani/Pedi Fortifier

Strong, long, beautiful nails are something that many of us try hard to grow but usually, cannot seem to find the perfect solution. Resorting to acrylic nails or nail extensions to achieve that glamorous look is okay, but if you can develop naturally healthy, real nails on your own, it’s the best way to go.

While there are many varieties to choose from, acacia honey is one of those best-kept secrets for growing fabulous nails. Not only is it great for keeping bacterial and fungal growth away from your skin and nails, but honey maintains supple and nourished cuticles.

Most people don’t realize that our cuticles matter when it comes to growing gorgeous nails. This is the thin layer of clear skin that meets the nails of your fingers or toes.

When your cuticles are moisturized and damage-free, they help your nails also grow healthy and strong.

Here’s a classic cuticle recipe to try once a week:

In a small cup, mix together two teaspoons of raw honey with a squeeze of lemon juice. Massage the serum into your nails, nail beds, and cuticles.

Allow the serum to stay on for about 20 minutes, and then rinse it off.

Honey Goddess Bath

Cleopatra, the ancient Queen of the Nile, believed in the beauty goodness of natural ingredients to maintain her regal youthfulness. Milk and honey were two of her favorites.

You, too, can relax and get away in a raw honey-infused soak and end up with soft, lovely skin.

Our first recipe only takes seconds to make. In a small bowl, mix together 2 heaping tablespoons of raw honey into a cup of water. Keep stirring until the honey dissolves.

Then, pour the mixture into a tub of warm water to soak. Enjoy your bath as the power of honey delivers silky skin.

For the Cleopatra Milk and Honey Bath, add 2 tablespoons of raw honey to 3.5 ounces of milk in a small saucepan. Heat it up until the honey dissolves. Do not boil the ingredients.

Pour the milk and honey serum into a hot bath and relax. Use a small washcloth to massage in the serum. Rinse your body afterward.

Sometimes, it is nature that holds the key to ageless beauty and good health. Honey, it all its golden, sweet, floral goodness happens to be one of these precious answers to glowing skin and stronger nails. Give it a try, and see the difference.
