Tea tree oil Uses

In my previous post, I reviewed a cream by Afrikan Republic, though it was not my favorite cream for summer, but still I found that it cured my pimples fast. That made me more curious about one of its main ingredients; tea tree oil. I found some interesting facts about tea tree oil uses, and I am so excited about sharing them with you. By the way, tea tree has nothing to do with the well-known plant that you use to make green and black tea.

Tea tree oil comes from Australia, and it is now found in many skin care products. Kathi Keville from HowStuffWorks call it “medicine cabinet in a bottle”, and she is right about it!

Tea Tree Oil Uses for your Skin and Hair

1.Tea Tree Oil for Acne.

Since tea tree oil is a good anti-bacterial agent, it is obvious that you can use it to help your immune system fight the bacteria and therefore reduce the inflammation.

Place a few drops on a cotton swab and apply it to the affected area of your skin. (Remember that applying too much will dry your skin). Tea tree oil can be a good substitute for benzoyl peroxide as an acne treatment; its results are similar to benzoyl peroxide acne treatments with much less side effects. Benzoyl peroxide side effects include itching, stinging, burning, and dryness.

On the other hand, if you are using a product that contains benzoyl peroxide, do not use tea tree oil for acne treatment at the same time, otherwise, your skin will get irritated. [Source: HowStuffWorks]

2. Dandruff

Because tea tree oil is a well-known anti-fungal agent, many use it for curing dandruff. If you are suffering from dandruff, use a shampoo that contains tea tree oil. This amazing essential oil can reduce symptoms of dandruff, helping you get a healthy scalp, for healthy looking hair.

3. Treats skin conditions like athlete’s foot, warts, insect bites, and corns.

4. Treat minor wounds

5. Get rid of blackheads

6. Get rid of lice

7. Used for making homemade natural deodorant.

9. As a household cleaner.

Tea tree oil is now widely used as a natural nontoxic all-purpose safe cleaner. Use a spray bottle full of water and add 1-2 tablespoons of tea tree oil. It will keep your bathroom fresh!

10. Natural Laundry Freshener.

Add 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil to a regular load of laundry during the wash cycle for fresh smelling laundry.

These 10 uses of tea tree oil are just a few of 80 uses I found online! Tea tree oil has many benefits for your skin, hair, and health. All you need is just few drops at a time, which means that your bottle will last for a long 🙂

What additional benefits of tea tree oil do you know? Have you ever used it in a homemade recipe? Tell us about it in the comment.

Just like all herbs and essential oils, you should use tea tree oil with caution, especially for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children. Also remember never to swallow it! More details here.

  • I always have a bottle at my disposal! Atm I am using a blend of hemp seed oil, tea tree oil and lavender as my facial moisturiser. It has helped with the breakouts hugely, and I find that they rarely get inflamed now, but just stay as extractable blackheads.
