Review: Skin Essentials from Simple Beauty Minerals

21/07/2014 //  by Dima Al Mahsiri//  4 Comments

Simple Beauty Minerals, Skin essentials skin care products review

A month ago, I received skin care products from Simple Beauty Minerals. Simple Beauty Minerals is a family-run company who are working hard to provide you with natural skin care products and mineral cosmetics. Their skin care line (called Skin Essentials) is FREE of parabens, synthetic fragrance (phthalates), and nano particles.

At Simple Beauty Minerals’ website, Lisa Liguori the founder and owner of the brand says:

“What I promise is that Simple Beauty Minerals will strive to give you honest, one-on-one, personal service and care in your makeup, skincare, and essential oils shopping experience, as we want a personal relationship with our customers.”

And she really did! She helped me pick the right mineral foundation color and blush, and she was very helpful each time I emailed her asking a question.

Pssst…. I will be reviewing some of their cosmetics in the near future; you do not want to miss that review 😉

Back to skin care, I received two products (full sized) from Simple Beauty Minerals; Jojoba Creme Scrub and Green Tea Lotion Cleanser.

Starting with Jojoba Creme Scrub :

The company’s description says:

“This creamy scrub gently exfoliates dead surface skin revealing soft and supple skin underneath. Good for sensitive skins too. Jojoba oil helps to balance oil production while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles at the same time.”

Jojoba Creme Scrub ingredients

Ingredients are mostly organic, including:

“Organic aloe juice, organic coconut oil, emulsifying wax NF, stearic acid, kosher vegetable glycerin, jojoba wax beads, organic jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, witch hazel, vitamin E, phenoxyethanol, tetrasodium Edta, polysaccharide gum, black willowbark extract, neem oil, rosemary oleoresin, citric acid.”

Green Tea Lotion Cleanser:

 *Vegan

Company’s description:

“A gentle and creamy lotion cleanser rich with anti-oxidants to minimize free radical damage (free radicals are a factor in aging skin) and full of essential oils to nourish, replenish and balance your skin.”

Green Tea Lotion Cleanser

Ingredients:

“Aloe barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera) Juice, Olea europaea (Organic Olive) Oil, Aspalathus linearis (Organic Rooibos Tea) Extract, Emulsifying Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane), Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), Camellia sinensis (Organic Green Tea) Extract, Camellia sinensis (Organic White Tea) Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Xanthan Gum (Polysaccharide Gum), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Ester), dl-Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Retinol Palmitate (Vitamin A), Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin, Azadirachta indica (Neem) Oil”

How do I Use Simple Beauty Minerals cleanser and Scrub?

According to Dr. Harold Lancer, exfoliating first helps remove dirt, oil, and opens the pores; making it easier for the cleanser to penetrate through and cleanse your skin thoroughly. First, I use Jojoba Creme Scrub by applying about half a teaspoon, and work through my face in a circular motion. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you already know that I have a combination skin, and this scrub really works well for my skin. It cleanses without making it dry.

Jojoba Creme Scrub

I wasn’t sure if I should apply the scrub over dry or wet face, so I asked Lisa, who answered my question in no time saying: “To answer your question, you can use it either way. When you use it on dry skin, you get more action from the scrub, which is the way I prefer it, but I always suggest trying it both ways to determine which feels best to you.”Thank you, Lisa!

For me, I prefer to wet my face first; I feel that it is gentler on my skin that way, but you can try both ways to determine which works better for you.

Then I follow with Green Tea Lotion Cleanser; I use a damp cotton pad, place a small amount of lotion cleanser on the pad and swipe across my face.

What I liked about Simple Beauty Minerals Cleanser and Scrub

  • Simple Beauty scrub is creamy, contains vegan organic ingredients, with a nice light smell. I like the way it exfoliates my skin leaving it clean and shine-free. Also, it does not dry my skin even when I used it daily.
  • I only need a small amount to exfoliate my face, which means that this organic product lasts for a long time, and for $16 I will definitely buy it again 🙂
  • I also liked the Tea Tree Cleanser ($19), it cleanses quite well and removes my waterproof mascara easily without the need to scrub my eyes; leaving my face clean and happy!
  • Both products are affordable.

What I didn’t like about Simple Beauty Minerals Cleanser and Scrub

My only concern when using the scrub is the jar (the packaging), I wish it were packed in a tube that will keep it clean, in order to avoid contaminating it each time I dip my finger in the jar. Nevertheless, I wash my hands before exfoliating my face.

The cleanser is packed in a simple but yet practical packaging, it is just the alcoholic smell that I didn’t like, but it just lasts for few seconds.

My Over all Experience

I liked both the scrub and the cleanser; I use the scrub on a daily basis, making it a good competitor for my Garnier wash. The cleanser removed all makeup gently without the need to scrub my face. Both products are paraben-free and full of natural organic ingredients. I LOVE them both 🙂

If you are looking for organic affordable skin care products, visit Simple Beauty Minerals website, they are offering 25% off your first order! Don’t forget to follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

*Though the brand sent me these products for review, all opinions are my own, and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Great review! Dima, if you wash your hands before you dip into the jar, you’ll be fine…or you can use a spoon or buy a couple of inexpensive cosmetic scoops. Frankly, these products seem to have much better (meaning, natural) ingredients than Garnier products do, although sometimes products with synthetic chemical ingredients do a great job too.

      Thank you, Allison!
You are right about Garnier, it works for me, but I always prefer organic and natural products, and I know so do you 🙂

    Looks good cream.
I have a Sensitive Skin, I do not know this product will cause side effects or not.
