10 Uses of Olive Oil for Your Skin You Must Know

15/05/2016 //  by Dima Al Mahsiri//  6 Comments

I remember that my grandfather used to drink a small glass of virgin olive oil every morning, yes! Might be strange, but I discovered later that many elderly people of his generation did the same, and they all passed away at the age of 90+ with no heart diseases or any other serious health issues like cancer.

Virgin olive oil is a major ingredient in the Mediterranean cuisine; people add it to nearly every dish, either by drizzling olive oil on food or by cooking with it.

In addition, many people swear by olive oil used topically as a moisturizer, especially for hands, a treatment for mild scalp problems, and as a moisturizing hair mask.

Olive oil, especially the virgin olive oil, contains antioxidants like vitamins E and A, monosaturated fatty acids, and Omega-3 fatty acid, making it a rich source for healthy skin and body as a whole.

In the following infographic, you will find out 10 uses and benefits of olive oil to your skin…

I use olive oil all the time in cooking, but because of the strong scent I’ve never thought of using it topically. I guess why not?

Hmm… Allison, I have never noticed that olive oil has a strong scent, maybe because I use it on a daily basis that I got used to its smell. I always thought that shea butter has a stronger scent than olive oil.
Still, why not using it?! You could use it as a body exfoliator along with sugar, just make sure you use a slippery bathtub to avoid unpleasant accidents!
