3 Beauty Tips to Look Your Best for a Job Interview

Published by

When you are trying to get your dream job, you have to make sure you do great in the interview. First impressions count for a lot and it is important to make sure you cover all of your bases to provide them. Looks shouldn’t be the basis on which you get hired, but you do have to look the part for the job that you want to get hired for.

There are a number of things you can do to look your best for the interview. It’s important to have a plan for your dress and style to get through the interview in the best possible light.

In this article, we will go over several of the things you should do before the interview.

#1 Get your Makeup Right

It is a sad but true fact that hiring managers are looking for youthful candidates even though it is illegal to be ageist when hiring. However, you can work this into your favor by trying out some anti-aging skin care products to give you a more youthful appearance.

The key is to not overdo the makeup as it could end up giving a bad first impression. Overdone makeup could be a sign of overcompensating or bad judgment. When you do your makeup in an understated way then it does not draw any attention to it and gives you a natural appearance.

Go easy on the makeup foundation and let the rest of the makeup highlight your natural features. This will give you a professional look and will not cause any distractions during the interview.

#2 Get your Attire Right

There is no standard when it comes to what to wear for an interview. The key is for you to try to match the culture of the company while also looking at yourself. Try to do some research into the policies for dress at the company and then try to match what you wear to that. It isn’t much of a risk to be overdressed, however, if you want to look like you belong at that job then dressing the part could help.

Otherwise, simply wear some attire that looks like it would fit into a corporate environment. Keep it understated and classy so you are drawing a lot of attention to what you’re wearing.

Accessorize in a way that accents your outfit with the right shoes and some simple jewelry.  Avoid wearing things like a hat or something that is going to be too pronounced.

#3 What to Avoid

We already covered that you should not wear too much makeup and that you should be understated but there are a few more things to avoid so you look the part during your interview.

You should make sure that you are not holding onto your phone during the interview. It should be put away in a purse and left there with the ringer off. As far as your bag goes, make sure to not bring your everyday, oversized bag where you carry everything. Instead, opt for a small bag with just enough room for a phone, wallet, and keys.
