Organic Green Tea from Japan Review

Published by

First, I would like to thank you all who supported me by sharing my previous blog post How I Used Green Tea to Reduce Hair Loss, or just by simply reading it. I am so glad that many of you liked it and shared it on social media.

If you have not read it yet, click here to read the full post.

Today’s post is also about green tea; actually, it is a review for an organic green tea subscription box, which delivers green tea to your doorstep on a monthly basis.

I was so excited when I received an email from Organic Green Tea From Japan asking me if I would be interested in reviewing their products. I have tried Chinese and Moroccan green tea but have not tried Japanese green tea, yet.

Organic Green Tea From Japan as I mentioned before is a subscription box service, which sends you organic green tea on a monthly basis. They deliver internationally, which is great for those who would like to try high quality organic Japanese green tea. Yuhei Sakamoto is the founder who knows about green tea.

Shipping was so fast, it took 6 days to deliver my box, and it arrived well packed. I also received a pretty glass teapot (all subscriptions receive that teapot on their first order).

There were also three types of green tea packed in paper bags. I had to put each in a glass container, but I was informed that the packaging would be much better with a sealed paper bag starting from next month.

In my previous post about using green tea for curing hair loss, I posted an image for how to prepare healthier green tea. If you follow this method, you will get healthier green tea that contains Theanine and has an umami (delicious) taste; similar to the meaty flavor of sautéed mushrooms, brewed soy sauce, a juicy steak, or a rich stock.

Green tea that has an astringent taste contains more caffeine and less Theanine. And has fewer benefits for your health.

Why is Theanine good for you?

Theanine is an amino acid that has a promoting effect, so you get more of that peaceful effect and less caffeine. This happens by increasing your brain’s production of dopamine to give you an alert, yet relaxed, awareness. [Source]

Here is how you can prepare green tea properly, the one that has more Theanine and less caffeine.

[For one serving, you will need 2.2 FL US oz]

How to make two servings of green tea:

  1. Prepare soft water.
  2. Put two spoons of tea leaves in a teapot.
  3. Boil hot water.
  4. Pour hot water that is 158°F (70°) into the teapot. In addition, make sure not to pour it directly on the tea leaves, otherwise, you will end up with cloudy tea.
  5. Steam close the teapot lid 30 seconds.
  6. Enjoy your green tea!

If you follow the steps mentioned above, you will get clear, sweet (umami) green tea that is full of anti-oxidants. The first time I prepared my tea, I poured water directly on the tea leaves; the result was cloudy tea with a strange taste. (See below image).

Back to my green tea box, I received the following green tea types:

Iwakuraseicha Shizuoka Green Tea

The farmer worked hard for growing this kind of tea in an organically fertilized farm. This tea has both strong smell and taste.

Zenkouen Shizuoka green Tea

This tea has a sweet taste, and to get a stronger flavor slowly and carefully “depth steam” longer than usual.

Masuokaen Saitama Green Tea

The farmer is the 15th generation of tea farmer working on a farm that is 400 years old. The farmer uses an organic fertilizer that the family passed generation after the other. The taste of this tea is weak but it has the scent of wild nature. I received special brewing instructions for this tea. It needs a longer steaming time than other tea types.

Green tea is not just a hot drink that you would drink in the afternoon, it’s a wonderful source of anti-oxidants that are good for your skin, hair and your whole body. I enjoyed drinking different kinds of organic green tea from Japan. And if you wish to try that too, I would recommend trying Organic Green Tea From Japan.

  • I don't see a way to order this tea. There is no purchase button on the website. Is there an other green tea that you would recommend? Thanks!

    • Unfortunately, there isn't. But you could google for organic green tea online. You can also check local organic food stores. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for reminding me to have some organic green tea. I only drink coffee before. It is the time to take some change!
