5 Helpful Tips for Decorating Your Wedding Reception Venue on a Budget

Published by

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while know that I usually publish my posts on Monday, but I have been quite lazy lately. Well, not exactly, the truth is that I have been busy helping my sister plan for her wedding reception; my sister is going to marry soon!

As far as I am extremely happy for her, I feel sad because she is going to live far away from home as she is going to live in London.

The wedding reception will be in London, and I am honored to be the bridesmaid!

Talking about wedding receptions, I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of what we learned all through our experience.

Even though the main purpose of a wedding is the ceremony, for a number of your guests, the real wedding will begin at the reception. While this is a fun experience for everyone, including the bride and groom, the initial planning of the reception can be a bit stressful, especially if you have limited funds. The good news is that there are a number of ways that you can create an elegant and fun reception venue while sticking to a tight budget.

#1 Implement White Christmas Lights

Many couples decide to use white Christmas lights due to the versatility and elegant appearance. The fact is that these lights can be used in a variety of ways for your wedding reception. You can hang them from the ceiling, put them in potted plants, place them around the cake, or even around the tables. If you do not like to use Christmas lights, consider an affordable lantern.

#2 Ribbons

Seat covers are extremely expensive to make and to rent, especially if you have a large guest list. Rather than using seat covers, purchase some wide ribbon to tie on the back of the reception chairs. This is an affordable option when compared to the fancier seat covers.

#3 Water Features

If you are having an outdoor reception, you should consider adding a water fountain to the décor. However, you can also implement these inside, simply choose a smaller water feature that is able to sit on a table. The flowing will add an element of elegance and relaxation and offers an affordable price tag.

#4 Use the Food as Decorations

Select a wedding drink and food menu that can serve as decorations. Consider creative ways to arrange the food on platters, in jars or the types of serving dishes you use. This will also help you make the theme of your wedding feel more complete.

#5 Use Candles

Candles are inexpensive and can serve as a functional and affordable type of lighting for your wedding reception.

There are some wedding reception venues that may also offer rentable decorations, which will be much more affordable than having to purchase everything outright. Be sure you inquire about this for the site you have selected for your reception. You should also ensure that everything you plan to do in terms of decorations for your reception is also accepted by the location. For example, there may be a limit on the number of candles you can put in an indoor space. When you know the details, you can create an elegant and great looking reception venue that also stays within your budget.
