Avocado and Coconut Oil Blend

These two miracle ingredients have wonderful properties that will help your hair. Simply mash up a ripe avocado and mix it with a teaspoon or two of coconut oil, depending on how long and thick your hair is. Apply this mixture to your hair and massage it into the scalp, combing it through to the ends.

Leave the mixture in your hair for up to 30 minutes before you shower. In this time, the two ingredients will sink into the roots to nourish them deeply. Meanwhile, each strand will be receiving some moisturizing nourishment, helping to reduce the frizz. You will need to wash and condition your hair in the shower as per usual.

An Egg Mixture

Eggs are wonderfully nourishing for your hair and will have a really positive impact. Simply mix two or three eggs in a bowl with a dash of olive oil. Rub this onto your hair and massage into the roots. The eggs will create a glossy property to your hair and help to nourish with moisture and vitamins.

Leave the egg mixture in your hair for around 30 minutes, longer if your hair is long or thick. After this, shampoo and condition your hair thoroughly in the shower, ensuring all the egg is removed. Doing this two or three times a week will really help your hair reduce frizz.

Avoid Heat on your Hair

Using appliances like hair straighteners, irons, curlers, and blow dryers is a major cause of frizz. Wherever possible, avoid using these and reduce the impact that they have on your hair. If you do use them, make sure you treat your hair with some natural oil, such as argan oil or coconut oil, to restore the moisture that the heat takes out.

Avoid Drying with a Towel

The simple act of drying your hair with a towel can be a real trigger of frizz. The action of rubbing your hair with a towel creates a lot of friction between the strands of your hair, which causes a lot of frizz to occur.

Rather, let your hair dry naturally whenever you can. Once it is dry, brush it gently. Brushing your hair while wet is quite damaging and causes more friction, this creates frizz. The more natural you can let your hair dry, the better the results will be.

Shampoo Less Often

While it is great to shampoo your hair, doing it often can lead to an increase in frizz. Your hair has natural oils, which needs to go through a cycle. Shampooing does interfere with this cycle. Therefore, the less you shampoo, the more natural your hair can tame itself. The natural oils in your hair reduce frizz. Aim to shampoo your hair just two or three times a week, going natural for the rest of the time.

Deep Conditioning

If your hair is unmanageably frizzy, try a deep conditioning treatment. Sometimes the source of the problem is in the roots and the scalp. Deep conditioning helps to target this. What’s more, deep conditioning helps to protect your hair against the weather elements, particularly the wind and cold.

To deep condition your hair, try a leave-in conditioner. These can be applied to your hair after a shower and can stay in before your next wash. They are deeply nourishing and hydrating, helping to restore moisture to your hair. They work to combat frizz by creating a glossy shine and protective layer to the strands of your hair.

Wear a Pony Tail

If you cannot tackle the frizz each day with a home remedy, try wearing your hair in a ponytail. This helps to pull back your hair and keep the frizz out of your face. A ponytail is simple and manageable, and will not make the frizz in your hair too noticeable, so it cannot distract and annoy you through the day.

These remedies and tips are simple and easy to try on your frizzy hair. Hopefully, you will find a way that tames your frizzy hair and boosts your self-confidence. Try a few different ways and see what results are best for you. Remember, long-term treatment is the key to really honing in on your frizzy hair problem. Being consistent with the method will help to keep your frizzy under lock so you can enjoy smooth and shiny hair each day.

  • This is a very wonderful article Dima,

Having a frizzy hair can be quite disappointing. One habit i see a lot of people guilty of is using towel to clean their hair. Honestly, i never knew that also contributes to frizzy hair.

For someone like me, i can't really imagine having my hair wet after bathing, I guess there should be a better way of drying the hair other than living it wet Dima?

Egg misture also works wonders in mentaining a healthy hair just like the popular Avacado hair mask.

You really cool tips here Dima,

    Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Theodore,

You are right, though many do not know that, using a towel contributes to frizzy hair. The alternative would be using a fiber fabric. Some companies started to produce such fiber towels for wet hair, and this really helps to keep frizz at bay.

      • That's a good revelation Dima,

I'm going to also tell my girl friend about this, she's so fond of drying her hair with a dry towel after taking her bath.

I'm sure she'll be blown away upon hearing this :)
