Everyone wants to stay as beautiful, youthful, and healthy as they possibly can, and the fact is that many people think that they have to spend loads of money on cosmetic and beauty treatments to make that happen. The truth is that you can achieve that with the help of one ingredient you probably already have in your kitchen cabinet – baking soda. Stay with us and learn about its benefits for your skin and overall health.

A Natural Ingredient for the Ultimate Skincare Routine

In case you did not know, the skin is your largest organ, which means that the proper selection of skincare products is of the utmost importance. You should know that your skin has the ability to absorb literally anything you apply to it, so make sure to use appropriate products that will not cause harm to your body.

When it comes to baking soda, the truth is that nearly every kitchen already has it, but did you know that it could do wonders for your skin, hair, and even teeth?

This inexpensive, yet efficient ingredient is a natural substance that most often appears as a fine powder that has antiseptic, antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. More and more skincare brands are aware of the fact that such ingredient is the future of the industry, which is exactly why they are coming up with natural skin care products designed to take care of your skin and nourish it properly.

Baking Soda as One of the Best Ingredients for your Overall Health

Apart from being great for your skin, baking soda does an amazing job when talking about your overall health. In combination with water, it can be used either as a natural deodorant free from parabens and aluminum or as a paste that relieves itchiness from insect bites.

Some people even claim that this ingredient can be used for preventing cancer, as well as a tool cancer patients can use to identify and stabilize cancer growth. Baking soda can be handy here since it can buffer the pH of cells and tissues. Apart from that, it can also be helpful when it comes to detoxification and supporting the body in healing from radiation exposure and oxidative damage.

A Baking Soda Facial for Radiant and Youthful Skin

If you are up for a cheap yet really great facial treatment without visiting a professional beautician, don’t worry, you can have it in the comfort of your own home! You can come up with simple baking soda facials, baking soda body scrub, or maybe even combine this ingredient with your favorite cleanser or other natural ingredients – possibilities are truly endless.

Recipe #1 Baking Soda Scrub

Start by making a paste with three teaspoons of baking soda and one teaspoon of water. This combo makes a fabulous exfoliator, which deals with pimples and blackheads.

Recipe #2 Baking Soda Facemask

You can also make an amazing face mask with ½ cup of ground oats, one teaspoon of baking soda, one tablespoon of raw honey, and a little bit of chamomile tea. Spread this wonderful mixture all over your face, let it sit for about five minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. Your skin will be so smooth and silky after this mask!

Other Surprising Uses of Baking Soda

Knee

Apart from your face, you can use baking soda for your knees and elbows since these areas often suffer from dryness. In order to moisturize them properly, add just a tad bit of this ingredient to your everyday moisturizing cream and massage it into these dry parts.

Baking soda will also help your feet to relax after a long day spent in a pair of uncomfortable shoes.  All you have to do is to add just three tablespoons of it to a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 10 minutes. This combo will help your feet get rid of dead skin cells in order to be soft, healthy, and beautiful.

Your hair can also benefit from baking soda. You should use it, especially if your tresses tend to get oily after every washing. Add a teaspoon of this ingredient to your shampoo, massage it into your hair, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Your hair will feel fresh and clean right after you rinse it!

As you can see, baking soda is a truly powerful ingredient, which can do wonders for your beauty, cleaning your home,  and overall health. Just do not be afraid to give it a try and you’ll see that it really works.

I’m Samantha Braddy, a literature graduate from Sydney. I started paying attention to what I was using on my body and discovered that pretty much every product I was using was unsafe. I finally came to the conclusion that the only way I could be sure was if I made it myself. So I recently started writing about my passions and I feel that I have a lot to share with you and other beauty lovers.
