Greek yogurt face mask recipes

Whether your skin is oily, dry, or even sensitive, yogurt always has a solution for you. Depending on the ingredients added to it, it can be used as an exfoliator, moisturizer, and much more. And by regular use of one of these simple Greek yogurt recipes, I will mention below, you will achieve the glowing skin you are looking for. But before we start, you should make sure to clean your face with mild soap and rinse with warm water.

Benefits of Greek yogurt recipes for your skin:

1. Repairs sun-damaged skin.

Years ago, when I used to go outdoors in the midday, my skin used to turn deep red. My mother always told me that I should use yogurt mask to cool down my skin. Since then I developed the habit of  applying it for 15-20 minutes then rinse with warm water, it has a cooling affect and helps reduces red blemishes.

Dr Oz suggests adding blue berries: ” Remove the damaged surface layers of your skin with a facial mask of yogurt and (approximately 12) blueberries. Mash together; apply to face and leave on for 15 minutes then rinse. Blueberries contain vitamin C and E to help heal skin, and the lactic acid in yogurt is an effective exfoliate.”

2. Yogurt Exfoliates your Skin.

 3. Fade age spots on face.

Lactic acid , which is an alpha hydroxy acid, is also known to prevent premature aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots on face.

When asked: How can I fade age spots? Dr Oz answered:

“Eggplant can help fade age spots. Make a face mask by blending 1 cup of eggplant, skin on, with a half-cup of yogurt. Apply to your face for at least 20 minutes. You should look for results to show up in about 10 days.Age spots – or sunspots – are pockets of melanin caused by sun damage. There are many ways to treat age spots on face, but one great at-home remedy is plain Greek yogurt face mask. Apply it directly on to the spots then let it dry for about 15 to 20 minutes. The lactic acid in the yogurt helps lighten the spots. Repeat this every three days until the spots have noticeably faded.”

    • Hi Allison,
There are no rules when using homemade masks, you may repeat this every three days until the spots have noticeably faded. But you can use it more frequently (3-4 times a week) if you have oily skin, and less frequently ( 1-2 times) if you have sensitive skin.It all depends on your skin type.

  19. Some really nice suggestions Dima. I knew yoghurt had some good qualities but I didn’t know it could be used to treat so many different skin types. I’ve heard of the oatmeal, honey and yoghurt face mask before. I think it is quite a popular and you are right in saying that it helps cooling down your skin. I think it is great buying products that work for your skin but sometimes just using what you have lying around the house and making your own masks can be more beneficial. You can pamper and look after yourself in the comfort of your home.

    • Thanks, Caroline, glad you liked it!
You are right about using homemade masks for pampering yourself. I am very picky when it comes to over the counter beauty products, unless I am sure that it is 100% natural.
